I really need to get back into the habit of maintaining this sham of a website I've paid for. It worked pretty well as a creative outlet for a while, and it would be really helpful to have a place to keep my portfolio of photo and video to share with the world.
School...oh school. In another life, maybe we could have had a better relationship. You finished second place to a career that doesn't need you, and I'm tired of the passive aggressive demands you make...jump through this hoop, meet this arbitrary deadline, submit or we won't give you a magic piece of paper. I thirst for knowledge, not bullshit. Who gives one goddamn about being well rounded; I want to be the best I can be at one very specific thing. Well rounded = wasting time I could be spending working towards that goal on useless shit. Fortunately, the semester is nearly over. Far more valuable than a grade, I've found a new friend that has quickly come to mean a great deal to me. She cast the spark that relit a fire I had given up on for years now and continues to serve as muse, model, and companion.
With the reignition of the drive to make art with a camera, I've ordered an enlarger, much film, purchased new lenses for my old Nikon FE (would have used the Olympus, but they can't meter low-light) and will be making my own photographic prints again within the next month or two. I've ignored it for far too long; photography was the only art that ever captured me for hours upon hours at a time. After 8-10 hours in the dark room, I noticed I was hungry and looked up at the clock in a double-take because I hadn't realized that much time passed. Why I ever let the inherent difficulties of setting up an improvized darkroom stop me from doing it anyway, I'll never know. Time to make some fucking art.
I'll be looking at revamping and 'relaunching' this site in the next few weeks, complete with galleries for some of my photography that has never seen the soft glow of the internet and a place to leave my video projects (or at least, samples). Suggestions are always welcome. Wix is great about the amount of stuff you can do without spending money, but it's hard to sort through if you don't have something in particular in mind already.
